Stupid Fast
review 1: When was the last time a sports book has been able to inform you with some humor and provide real life events that you could relate to in your lifetime? Stupid fast is a sports book that is intended to catch the eye of readers who enjoy sports like football and deal with dramatic events. A young High school student by the name of Felton Reinstein lives in a small town of Bluffton, Wisconsin. In an aspect in his life at a very young age he witnesses the death of his father and is now an important figure in his household to provide for his family. As the story goes along Reinstein experiences changes to his body as he gets older which causes him to eat more and do fewer activities. With the loss of his best friend Gus; gone to Venezuela to go see family the whole summer... more is opened to Reinstein to do anything he wants. In the summer while Felton is riding his bike he notices a new family moving into Gus’s house while he is away where they happen to have a daughter. Also, coaches and players at Bluffton High have given him the impression to go out for the football team this year to help them improve on their stature. With that being said, will he be able to handle the stress of his mother going crazy, getting bullied, making new friends, and trying to get the girl that he really likes? Felton Reinstein (Main Character) is perceived to be a typical teenager going through puberty…..lazy, girl crazy and disrespectful to their sibling or parents. Another character is Jerri Reinstein (Felton’s Mother) in the beginning of the story she is a kind, caring, hippy as Felton perceives her to be, that cares about her children. However at a certain point she dramatically changes to being really quiet, crazy, and the complete opposite of what she’s usually like. In addition, the story is realistic fiction because of how the author Geoff Herbach makes the reader really understand the characters and expound on the situations so that they are believable.
review 2: Stupid Fast was a great book. It was a page turner andeveryrime you finished one page the book would leave you wanting to know what happened next. You also wondered how The stories main character Felton was able to get through his daily life after dealing with his little brother, Andrew, and their mother, who they call Jerri. Felton facs many challenges and somehow finds a way to overcome them. He is especially pressured from everyone at his school because they want him to play football, but Felton is unsure because he has never played football and he is afraid he will suck and everyone will go back to hating him agagin. I really enjoyed reading this book and hope to read the two other books that go along with it. less
