review 1: I have to agree with other reviewers who were disappointed in this book. The subtitle claims, "228 Ideas, Tips, and Secrets for Taking the Best Pictures of Your Life," making it seem like this is a nitty, gritty how-to guide. It's not. It's pages of very loose 'ideas' and 'suggestions' for pictures. Many of which seem to be very similar to each other. It was almost entirely pictures of people (actually, every example may have been of a person), and lacks a lot in technical instruction. Glad it was a library book and not one I bought based on rave reviews.
review 2: Techniques for better pictures, with your point and shoot camera, smartphone, and/or expensive digital camera.. Great ideas for focusing close and far away and how to play! The idea that is mentione
... mored several times, and one I've heard before, is to not stop taking photos. Do your review of the photo shoot after it's over, not during! Do some advance preparation as to setup and just keep shooting. Don't be afraid to experiment, do something unexpected, like taking pictures of someone in their pajamas in an outdoor cafe in Paris. Recommended. Would be a great holiday gift for those photographers on your list. less

I hate the amount of photos of kids. Totally lost interest by the end of the 2nd chapter.
