review 1: I really enjoyed parts of this book though I have to say some stories were more riveting than others. At the heart I felt that the preface ran contrary to body: if, as the preface suggests, every generation experiences an 'unwinding', this was not clear to me in the text, which seemed to impress the fact that America now is fundamentally broken in a way it never was before and there seems to be no 'positive' experience or alternative.
review 2: Interesting envisioning of how the financial and political changes over the past 4 decades have brought us to where we are today and each crisis. But it's also a slow read and one of a few books that I've had to renew repeatedly. Also kind of depressing when you think if this is correct, how it's unlikely any of us young
