review 1: This was a fun read. I picked it up for free a while back and finally got around to reading it. I purchased the second book in the series as soon as I was done. The author races through some parts of the book I feel she could have elaborated on a little more, while dragging on too long on certain things (mainly the music)....but overall I really enjoyed it. I thought it would have one of those predictable endings but I was wrong, it was a nice twist. Can't wait to start book 2.
review 2: The current hesitation to blog probably erupted around the time I started getting free Kindle books from Pixel of Ink. Initially, I thought this would be a great thing, but much of what I've downloaded has proved to be dreck of the lowest order. One book--Bright of the Sky by Ka
... morey Kenyon--proved absolutely unreadable. By the time I was into the third chapter, I was already anticipating the shame of having to report that I'd read it. Another book, The Time Baroness by Georgina Young-Ellis--I am now ashamed to report I did read all the way through, much to the detriment, I am sure, of my cognitive capacities. In my defense, I had imagined, from the description, that it would be clever on the order of Jasper Fforde's The Eyre Affair (2001) or Dan Zeff's 2008 film Lost in Austen. Nothing doing; this was little more than a bodice-ripper. I think I could actually feel brain cells dying as I read. less

This is a nice book but not Outlander is Jane Austin's time. It fell flat for me.
