review 1: I cant believe how differently I saw this book to most of the reviews I read. I didn't thing there was any need to detail the disgusting cruelty to the poor animals in this story, this book has made me view Farmers in a different light I can only hope they are not all as cruel as Noah and her family were in this book and it wasn't based on facts. I only kept reading hoping one of the horses would kick Noah to death. What a dreadful book.
review 2: A 5 star book is hard to find and this was unexpected as I had the idea this would be way too horsey for a non-horsey reader. So wrong. What a treat - a great read in the traditional sense of a novel. Starts with teenage Noah and follows her trajectory through show jumping then family in country NSW - it's a remote,
... more bleak, insular place of blue skies, hardship and tough characters. Wonderful writing. less

This is an intense book. Gloomy at times but well written and quite Australian.
