Fighting for Love
review 1: Second installment of this series! Loved finally getting to meet Jax in this book as we had only heard of him in the first book. I have to say it is somewhat of a coincidence that I read this book while on vacation in Maui - it was awesome! I definitely could relate to what Jackson thought of the islands and how he viewed the scenery. When it used Hawaiian words - I totally knew what that meant! Having let Vanessa in the first book, you already have an idea that she is a firecracker and has the tendency to always have the upper hand in any argument and can cut you down to size with her sarcasm and take-no-bullshit attitude. I love that she is a determined and independent woman who can stand on her own. From her first meeting with Jax, you can tell it's going to be a rocky ... moreroad ahead. Jax is everything she has decided is wrong for her in a man, based on her seven rules. I think it's funny that her rules are based on NCIS and Gibbs - my husband and I watch the show! Love this :-)As the story unfolds, you get to see a deeper side to both characters. Jax has had a difficult time understanding who he really is as a man - his journey has been about living a simple life of his own accord because he's not really sure about his past and he fears revealing some of his secrets to those closest to him. So he has stayed focused on his MMA career and led his life to his own beat. When he meets Vanessa, he is drawn to her and doesn't understand the need and desire to be close to her. He comes up with a plan to be close to her but it's also the thing that causes their road to be rocky. Vanessa realizes that Jax causes her to doubt her seven rules and look deeper into her soul about why she made the rules in the first place. Throughout the book, both characters reveal deep issues that the have with their past and how they ultimately deal with them. The romance is hot and steamy with a little bit of domination. It was a fun and sexy read that kept you highly entertained.
review 2: Complimentary copy provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.Vanessa is a young, single, attorney who lives by a set of seven rules to keep herself from risking a broken heart. When she goes to Hawaii to help her best friend Lucie prepare for her wedding, she finds herself stuck with Lucie’s annoying older brother Jackson. Jackson is immediately infatuated with Vanessa and her quick-wit and he quickly has to come up with a way to insert himself into her life, as she is quick to dismiss him. When he lies and says that they have to step in and pretend to be Lucie and her fiancé Reid for the week in order to complete the planning, they decide to start a no-strings island fling, but soon find themselves falling deeper. Can Vanessa throw away her rules and forgive Jackson’s lie? Rules of Entanglement is a fun, fast, downright flammable read! The sexual tension between Vanessa and Jackson is off the charts hot. I loved the characters, however the only issue I had with the book was a part of the storyline that had no resolution whatsoever, it could have been removed from the book completely and no one would have been the wiser. Four incendiary stars! less
