review 1: As a caveat, I am probably not the right audience for this book. That said, I really think it could have used better editing. I love clever puns, but this book was full of old standbys and situations that were painfully contrived just so that a mediocre pun could be made. And I can never forgive when a pronunciation is abused just to make a pun work (corps and corpse do not sound the same when spoken, so you can't make that confusion in dialogue!). Also, I get that the main character has some revelations about her uselessness at the end, but it's not exactly character development, it's stating the obvious way too late for me to care. There really wasn't anything in this book that I would recommend.
review 2: I really liked this book. The premise is interesting,
... more we all go to hell to get recycled unless you're really bad you go to Heller. The fact that Kirsty gets none of Dante's terrible poetry is well, like poetry. I'm a big supernatural fan so this kinda played right into that fandom. Totally a Canadian book too. Heaven and Hell play interfaith hockey league on Tuesday night to settle their differences. Hilarious! less
