review 1: I really enjoyed this biography. After starting The Paris Wife and being annoyed at the fictionalization I was pleased to read the biography about Hadley, Hemingway's first wife. I found her fascinating. Both of them always held each other in high esteem and did not have any bad blood after their divorce. There are things about their dynamic that made each seem weak at times, but I thought the overall theme was loving and supportive. That whole partying 20s time period is interesting to me. I'm looking forward to reading Hemingway and Gelhorn next about his third wife.
review 2: I enjoyed this book about Ernest and Hadley. It made me sad, but was quite satisfying. Diliberto did a fine job of illuminating their life together, their passion for each other, thei
... morer temperaments and their deep concern for each other which lasted their lifetimes. Though he left her for another woman, he was the real loser -- a quite tragic loser. Sad. Now I want to read a little more of his work, particularly the Snows of Kilimanjaro, and perhaps A Moveable Feast again. less
