review 1: This sounded like an interesting read. The idea of four women getting away with murder and having someone write about years later. Gloria finds out that she is adopted and her mother was charged with murder. She takes a job as an editor at the Rosewood paper. Gloria thinks this will be a great way to find out about her birth mother. Gloria looks thru old newspapers to see what murders happened around the time of her birth and finds the story of four women who were suspected in a murder. Gloria believes that one of the four women is her mother'. She finds them in an assisted living home. Gloria decides she is going to write a book about the women. The twist of the story happens at the very end. The author did a great job with the story development. The ending seem... moreed to go one way and the author surprises the reader with an ending you didn't see. Really great story. This was my first time reading this author but it will not be my last. Highly recommend for readers who love mystery.
review 2: So many aspects of rural life are captured between the covers in this portrait of the darkest and brightest parts of humanity. The characters reveal themselves in monologues recounting the major events of their lives - each entwined around the expertly crafted villain. As with other previous works, it is this ability to reflect the parts of ourselves we most despise in the antagonist that allows us to connect so deeply with the story and the journey of the protagonist. At the heart of this tale is the companionship, loyalty, and love of dear friends, true to each other to the end and willing to protect the hope for the future regardless of the cost.ARC received for this review. less
