review 1: I was a little taken back, the book was on the 40% off rack in Wal mart. I almost didn't buy it. sounded to "Canadian". I figured it's probably just like the last Canadian novel, where the main character complained about our winters..... But don't judge a book by its geography right!. I couldn't put it down. I had to know what happened with Meena, Liam and her mother. it took a few hours, Some tissues, and lack of sleep. but I finished it. It's a modern day and local Romeo and Juliet type novel and I loved it! Would recommend it to any one in need of a tragic love story.
review 2: Matt & I had to run into the library last night before closing. I saw this book and was immediately attracted by the cover. Further, when an author is compared to Lahiri (my fav)
... more I am interested. Matt was intrigued with the idea of a love story involving a character named Liam and made sure to tease his brother when we got home. Anyway, I could not put this book down and did not go to bed until I was done. Just wish I could read more from Basran… less
