review 1: WONDERFUL! We have become HUGE fans of author Guy Bass.... and of course the wonderful illustrations of Pete Williamson! My sons and I have read two of the Stitch Head series and have already almost finished the third!!In this installment Stitch Head is once again trying to save Mad Professor Erasmus. It has been fun to watch Stitch Head accept a new set of friends into his life Arabella and Creature. (more characters to adore) The cast of characters work as a great team to save the professor.... this time while setting sail on the high seas! Please if you have a 2nd or 3rd grader who enjoys fantasy- pick up a copy.... it will leave you wanting to read the next chapter!!!
review 2: Stitch Head is back! After saving Castle Grotteskew from a greedy circus leader
... moreand an angry mob of townsfolk, Stitch Head didn’t regain the love and affection of his old friend, the Mad Professor Erasmus, but he did gain a few new friends. When Professor Erasmus leaves the castle, it’s up to Stitch Head to keep things in order, but when word comes in that the Professor has been kidnapped by pirates, it’s up to Stitch Head to save the day again.I REALLY enjoyed the first book and I enjoyed this one just as much. The writing is witty, the characters memorable and the pacing perfect. These are books that will appeal to both young boys and girls, and will also appeal to a wide range of ages. The stories are light and fun enough for younger children interested in chapter books, and fun and interesting enough to also appeal to Middle Grade and higher. The characters are all adorable and memorable. Even the pirates have their own appeal. I especially love that Stitch Head is so non-conventional — a monster by definition — but he has such a big heart. It’s sad to see how desperately he wants his old friend to remember and care about him, but his loyalty and dedication to his old friend is very admirable.Just as fun and filled with even more adventure, I enjoyed this book just as much as the first. If you have a reluctant reader at home, I would highly recommend this series. Heck, I’d recommend it to pretty much anyone. less
