review 1: I read book 3 and 4 one after another. I liked the format of the stories and how they developed. I guessed what was behind the murder and who was the culprit 2/3 through the story, and was thrilled that it was somehow different (and I was right).I hope I will find more books like those, I definitely enjoyed them. Something one can dive in after a stressful or rainy day and it will make one smile.
review 2: The story thread of Darcy, Nick, and Mimi, and their broader circle of family and friends, the Elder, the animals, and the rules of Crafting still charm in this fourth installment of the Wishcraft Mystery series. It's the outdated attitudes expressed by Starla and Glinda in connection with men and the women's choices, behavior, and self-esteem along with Darc
... morey's anxiety about her fixer personality that didn't work for me.(Hey, fixers like Judy Smith are necessary and get paid big bucks when people and situations are broken to the whack degree!) Also didn't appreciate how Starla's threatening words said in a moment of great fear are given equal weight with the fact that a man put his hands on her hard enough to leave bruises. When that comparison is thrown at Darcy more than once she doesn't say or think the distinction. [Sidebar: Privileged 12-year-olds have sophisticated vocabularies these days, so Darcy's thoughts about Mimi's usage of a particular word jumps out as odd.] less
