review 1: A POTION TO DIE FOR is the first book in a new series (Magic Potion) by Heather Blake. Carly Bell Hartwell is the owner of the Little Shop of Potions in HItching Post, Alabama -- the wedding capital of the south. One morning Carly finds a dead man in her shop clutching a potion bottle. She better find out who killed him before the town decides her potions are to die for. For some reason, the first part of the book was slow for me. By the end, it was moving right along. Some nutty characters add some spice. A bit of romance. I'll try another in the series.
review 2: A pretty good first installment, I think. I enjoyed the story and the "who-dunnit" kept me guessing until the end. The main characters were a perfect combination of likable and flawed; I'm intere
... morested to see where character development takes Carly, Delia & Dylan as the series continues. I live in a small southern town, and I think that the supporting cast may be drawn with too broad a Southern-stereotype brush... but it makes for some fun and funny moments. One thing we Southerners excel at is poking fun at ourselves, so I'm letting it slide! less

Really a 3.5. I'm waiting for the next book to decide if I like the series or not.

not a bad book for a new series. Needs a little polish. The aunts are a riot.

It was a quick, enjoyable read, but it didn't stand out.
