review 1: An average mystery at best. I don't want to give it only 2 stars b/c I liked it and it progressed well, but it was not spectacular or a favorite by any means. I doubt that i will ever read it again - as i would like to re-read many other 3 star books, so perhaps it does not earn a full 3 stars either... So i am assigning it 2 stars knowing it was more of a 2.5* rating. The characters were well developed and sometimes i found myself telling them what to do or NOT to do - in a moment of suspense! I would have preferred that the author go into much more detail about the crime scenes, murders, and the possible killer's thoughts/ internal dialogue. Although pleasant, this type of story was just a little too mundane and boring for my tastes. Nothing special to recommend ... morehere.
review 2: This took me approximately a hundred years to read, because I just couldn't get into the story. Usually I quite enjoy Heather Graham's books, so I'm not sure what it was about this one that I found so boring. I contemplated DNFing it half a dozen times, and I probably should have because the killer turned out to be the person I thought it was right at the very beginning of the book. I'm not sure if this means it was predictable, or if I'm just really good at guessing........Anyway, the whole romantic relationship seemed a little ridiculous. They'd only met a couple of times before they suddenly fell into bed together. A few days later, he buys her a puppy - albeit with a semi-valid reason - and then there are declarations of love despite the fact that they've only known each other for about a week. There was almost no character development, and some niggling errors that drove me insane. Particularly the one where Chloe looks into Luke's background and discovers an article from an English newspaper from when he was still on the police force, which refers to him as "Officer Cane". It takes literally two seconds on Wikipedia to find a list of the ranks in the Metropolitan Police Service. Given his age at the time, Luke would have been a PC. Possibly a DC. But definitely not "Officer", because that's never been a rank in the Metropolitan Police Service. So yeah. If I was willing to put that much brain power into a tiny little detail like that, it gives you some indication of how bored I was with the story... less

This book was VERY religious, in my opinion. However, it was still an interesting book.

I have quite a few of her stand alone books and every one I would and have read again.

I enjoyed that the plot was engaging and not mind-numbing transparent.
