review 1: Aweful, the plot goes off randomly every now and the the conversation is staid but I could have even over looked this if there were just not so many stupidly made references that shows the writer does not know how people spoke to each other.... The relationship felt contrived and the conflict silly and too easily overcome In short a disappointment I could go on but won't as some stuff in the book really annoyed me and at times I had to skip trite and silly conversation to get through it
review 2: Hmm... something about this book just seems strange to me. Maybe Hatbrook's lack of sentiment? Sometimes his character seems to be devoid of any emotions whether manifested or at least hinted at by the author. Those budding romantic feelings he has for Alys just see
... morem to disappear at times, very off-putting.I do agree with some other reviewers in that the realism Hiestand injected into the story (concerning Alys' inability to remain in trade as a baker while her family is trying to rise in society) was a welcome change to what often happens in other novels where such conventions are ignored or defied, yet everyone lives HEA.Overall, interesting premise? And there were some sweet moments, but the issue with Hatbrook's character kept me from really enjoying this book. less

It was a free Kindl book. It had it's ups and downs. I am not interested in all the sex scenes.
