review 1: A sad yet uplifting story starting with what a father will do for their dying daughter. When her family finds out she is dying just after her 12th birthday, her father who is a lawyer starts a process to be allowed to be a donor.......one problem......no doctor wants to take his heart and be charged with murder. So her father kills himself.in the emergency room on her 14th birthday.13 years later she's still trying to understand so she takes a break from her life and rents a cabin in the middle of nowhere to try and write.a book about it all. There she meets Matt and his sister Amy who has her own horrific father/daughter story. She slowly falls for Matt. But does he live up the expectations she's put on a man.......to be just like her dad. In the end he is willing to die f... moreor her......and he does.It made me laugh and cry and I felt angry at Heather Meyer for finally making this character realise she loved Matt, then taking him away. A nice feel good read with a bit of sadness thrown in for good measure
review 2: Contains spoilers I don't know what rating to give this book now. By default I usually give books that end sadly for the most part a bad rating cause I hate sad endings we have too much of that in reality and I read books to escape that kind of thing. I think why did Matt have to die why couldn't be that stupid doobie guy that I had no emotional investment in. It was nice that heather had conceived a child which left a part of Matt with her. The story was so sad and mournful yet inspiring. Losing a parent at any age is hard but when if happens when your a child is worse. I really felt all the emotions the main characters went through. Also I so hate guns and bad cops so many innocent people did daily because of people misusing them or going crazy and causing mass panic with them. I will never own one because they cause to much destruction and heartache when they get into the wrong hands. less
