review 1: I would have liked this one better had Evan not been an ass. I thought what he did to Rosemary and Wes in college was a crappy move, even worse was what he said after he let Rosemary know that she wasn't worth waiting for. With those actions and later I'm surprised that there was any way that the relationship could have a second chance. It seemed like when they all decided to give things a try again Evan kept treating Rosemary like a kid, which it turned brought out her bitchy side, leaving Wes in the middle. I really didn't think they could get past things. It was nice when they did. Their trip for the convention seemed to be turning point for them. I thought the erotic book convention was funny, loved that authors wanted to talk to them for a real life examples.What... more really kept me reading was the flashbacks to these 3 as kids. They were so cute, so innocent, and so certain that things would work out. Good thing it finally did.
review 2: Frankly this book made me angry, for many reasons and not least of all it's apparent acceptance that domestic violence ( and make no mistake disciplinary, or as it's phrased in the book chastisement spanking is domestic violence) is a necessary part of relationship and the woman must see to it that she does not make necessary for her man, or men, to spank her. It had such potential and I love the childhood friendship to romance novels. Not only is the spanking given for the flimsiest of reasons ( not that there is any reason that stands up) and both the heroes and the heroine feel a momentary twinge of, I don't know, disconcertment perhaps, it's then glossed over with the heroine having the understanding that she should not provoke another... I had hope the moronic Evan's initial threat when she was oh god forbid, up a ladder at her work, doing her job, was some foreshadowing of some erotic spanking play, the mention was to initiate the heroines internal monologue initial spark of interest with the idea, I kept reading despite finding it quite unsettling and hoping it wouldn't fulfil my fears, alas it did.Now don't get me wrong I'm all for erotic spanking if that's what floats your boat, but the idea that a woman is so stupid and unreasonable that she need chastising from her oh so much smarter and wise men to stop her from risking her own well being. That she such a child that she needs this, even if her men are more childish and have done and continue to do utterly moronic shit even stuffing up the spanking itself, because they had a chat to some other guys and didn't follow their oh so wise guidelines.... Ms Rainier I am still on the fence as to whether or not I'll read the other books in the series. less
