review 1: This book was recommended to me by a friend from Facebook, saying that 'OMG, you just have to read this!'And I did. And I can't believe I did it 'cause I am in a whole mess of FEELS right now. Tattoo Thief is a phenomenal book to read. Seriously, you just got to read this. I loved the characters and I loved how just messed up Gavin was, how broken and reckless and how he was a total mess. And I loved Beryl, who is a fantastic person. She climbed from the bottom and got herself up to the top. I just completely love them both. I love the chemistry that they got and I loved the funny moments in this book. Even though there were only a few, they were the best. The characters of this book has truly gotten through a lot of character development and I loved how MS. Tretheway did ... morethat. This woman knows how to write! In a scale of 1-10, this book deserves an 8 (which is totally high in my ratings by the way). I loved how it went and how the story flowed and I just can't get enough of it. This book is an amazing book to read.Happy Reading! ;)
review 2: Tattoo Thief started out as a 3 star read for me. I felt like - and I still feel this, a bit - the first few chapters could have been greatly reduced and still given us the overall story. However, this book is written like Beryl's journal, cataloguing her first adventure, breaking away from Eugene, Oregon, to the bright lights of New York City. So, the (in my opinion) overabundance of detail is understandable. It just made the beginning of the story a little too slow for me. And there was a little too much focus on non-Gavin-y things, which annoyed me.What brought this up to a 5 star read for me was that every time Beryl & Gavin are talking, I could FEEL the chemistry and the physics and I loved it. And when they're in the same room together? Plus, even when I was annoyed w/ the beginning of the story, I enjoyed the writing, and the voice given to Beryl. So! I can recommend this one, and I'll be checking into other books in the series. : ) less
