review 1: Actually more like 3 1/2 stars. Reading this book, I realized how little I know about legal and illegal immigrants, and it was really an eye opener (I am also an immigrant, although my story is totally different from the girls in the book, but this topic is especially interesting to me). I found the style of the writer a little too journalistic, with too many details about the political situation. Also, all the repetitive descriptions of the girls attires where really annoying after a while. Even though I tend to agree with the author's political views I found her too subjective in her way of presenting the facts, I would have liked her to be more neutral.Still, I am glad I read this book, I did learn a lot about the situation of illegal immigrants, especially in familie... mores where both legal and illegal immigrants coexist. Definitively worth reading, could not really give it 4 stars though, because of the comments I just made.
review 2: Our problem is not undocumented people. Our local farmers cannot afford to pay a good living wage. The problem is in capitalism and corporate control. Someone is making money. But it is not the average person. I as an average person cannot live off of what a farmer can pay me. I cannot live off of what Taco Bell can pay me. Is the solution to hire low wage immigrants? No. Immigrants should be paid a real living wage as I should as well. But the 10%ers are making millions as the rest of us struggle. We just blame it on immigrants when the real problem is corporations with voting rights who control our politicians. less

For a documentary, it was thorough, if not tedious. For entertainment, it was almost nil.
pettag
somewhat confusing; writing style was difficult to connect with; political
