review 1: Found it to be a little weird that after years of working together, NOW is suddenly when the mating urge takes hold, even though they’ve been secretly attracted to each other for a while. Then there’s the case they are working on.. They are hunting a killer.. and yet, someone else ends up catching the bad guy. Didn’t feel like this spoke highly of their skills as cops. The sex part was ok, with some switch up (way to go!) So other than the above issues, it was on the strong ok side for me.
review 2: I admit, I didn't know what to expect when I was given this story to review. The opening passage contained a few words so often overused in the genre that I braced myself for a bit of the same old same old--but I was pleasantly surprised that this was NOT the c
... morease! No, instead the authors treated us with a delightful romp through the common tropes of shifter fiction in the M/M romance genre, gently poking fun at them while obviously having a good time too. And yet the story wasn't merely one long joke either--no, there were some hot sex scenes (made even more so by turning some of the tropes on their heads) and a real underlying dilemma, too--how do you ever trust someone again who has severely violated that trust?Poor hapless (though not helpless) Baltimore cop Dylan finds himself not only turned into a werewolf against his will, but halfway engaged to be married as well--to his partner, Logan (aren't all wolf-shifters named Logan? :-)We as readers discover along with Dylan what these changes will bring to his life, along with such terminology as Alphas and Betas, mate-bonding, and er... knotting. *coughs* I don't want to spoil you with too much detail--Dylan's desperate way of trying to make sense of what is happening to him in a way that works within his universe of understanding is hysterical--as well as his reaction to each new piece of information he discovers along the way as Logan reluctantly shares what he knows is not likely to be taken well by Dylan.Add to that the prerequisite serial killer who is probably a rogue shifter--AND the fact that the killer has also violated the centuries old truce between shifters and vampires by making a vampire one of his victims--and you can see why Dylan is having a Very Bad Day. The end result is a nice balance of humor, hot sex, action, and drama. A fun way to spend the evening! less
