review 1: I found this book to have a few good tips and lots of encouraging words. In particular, the Do What You Can plan has definitely convinced me to stop beating myself up over places in my life where I have let good habits slip. I may not be able to run 3 miles every weekday anymore, but that doesn't mean something less than that is not a worthy and needed thing for my life, either!I am looking forward to discussing this with my book group and hearing what in it was helpful to each of them. I know that at least one person has already planned to buy the book as a gift for a couple of her friends because she thought it would be such salve to their souls.
review 2: Absolutely loved this one! Holley truly does write as tho we're sitting down with our coffee or tea and ... morejust having a heart-to-heart talk. We women struggle almost constantly with comparison and perfectionism and wanting so much to make everyone around us happy. In this book, i learned about the importance of really figuring out who God made me to be--my strengths, my weaknesses, the people i'm most drawn to serve, the sphere in which i thrive--and then finding the freedom to live it out. And at the center of it all is the grasping at realizing exactly how deeply we are loved by Jesus. Because, the truth is this, as Holley says it, "You really are loved. Just as you are. More than you know…I don't have to be perfect. I only need to be perfectly loved. And i am. So are you." less
