Holly's Inbox
review 1: Would've been 5 stars but a surprise that came out of left field knocked it down for me.I loved this book just as much if not more than the first one. With the huge exception of one thing (okay, maybe two, since one seems to effectively end the need for another installment in this series).Though it had been a long time since I’d read the first on and at times I found myself saying, “Who the hell is this?” or wondering what the heck happened before, it didn’t take me super long to get pretty much caught up with what happened in the previous book. As with the first one, the e-mails are hilarious as are the situations she and her friends get into. The banter between Holly and her co-workers if fast and extremely entertaining. Aisha’s a loyal friend who likes guys and... more isn’t afraid to talk about her exploits and thought about men and sex, even at work, and her co-worker Trisha is all sorts of awesome. She’s older than the other women, though I’m not exactly sure what her age is, but she’s got a wicked sense of humor and is so good at looking out for Holly and the others, she’s just great. I can’t even begin to describe how hilarious her friend Jason is. His five-week plan to get his boyfriend, Marco, to break up with him had me practically shrieking with laughter on the train. One surprise was sort of like, okay, guess this is where this story is going. The other one was so far out of left-field and just ridiculous that, if I didn’t find the book so hysterical, I would’ve put it down right then and there because it seemed so manufactured to tie in with the other surprise and to create friction between Holly and Toby, especially since we were never given a hint of it in the first book and I find it hard to believe that something like this could not be known about by anyone, that the use of it as a plot twist really pissed me off. I know, you probably have zero idea what I’m talking about, and I hope you don’t because I’m trying to be cryptic while still expressing my anger about this because I don’t want to spoil anything for someone who hasn’t read this book yet.It pretty much seems that this series is over because I really don’t have too much desire to read about her e-mails about what her kid pukes up or plays with. However, I would totally read something with her as an ancillary character that focuses on either Jason or Holly’s brother, Charlie.
review 2: Firstly I want to say that after reading 'Holly's Inbox' I actually belived that it was real. When I read things or if I'm told them, I tend to belive them. Not becuase as some people seem to belive, that I'm gullible but becuase I trust people to tell me the truth. However I may stop this becuase it seems as if the world is full of big liers and after reading a couple of reviews on goodreads, it seems that Holly is in fact a MAN! And she's not a boring 9-5 receptionist, she has a penis. I felt like abit of a knob after reading that, as I have shelved the book in non-fiction. Something I had to go back and change very quickly before any one on goodreads started laughing at me. And I should have known! People are never that funny all the time! Right, now to talk about the second book 'Scandal In the City' which is actually just chick-lit. I loved it, even tho I was lied to by man Holly and made to look a fool on goodreads. It's just such a page turner. Becuase you don't alway know the full picture, you keep turning the page to get more insights on the gossip. I love Holly (fictional, not fake man one). She just makes so many funny mistakes, reminds me of me really. Loved that there was a new bitch to hate in the form of Tanya. And although I felt this one had a more slightly unrealistic story to it, I actually liked it more. I hope there is a third one. less

Not bad. Exact same plot line as the first, so a bit disappointing there. Still a fun read.

I really wanted to like this book. I just couldn't get into it.

Cute summer read. Basically Bridget Jone's Diary 2.0.

Once again a brilliantly funny, fast-paced read.

Not as good as I thought it would be.
