review 1: Nightmares are dreams in which the dreamer feels helpless, adding ancient creatures and hellish landscapes might drive a person to insanity. In H.P. Lovecraft's Call of Cthulhu, Lovecraft is the sole heir of his deceased uncle's lifetime work. Call of Cthulhu mixes mythos with suspense, first person recollection, and a story that goes back before earth or man. The mythos in Call of Cthulhu follows artistic minds plagued by horrific nightmares of hell-like landscapes and crashes of letters known only as gibberish. "...Cyclopean cities of titan blocks and sky-flung monoliths, all dripping with green ooze and sinister latent horror..." This excerpt offers a look into the Cthulhu mythos using a dream from one of the interviewees. Suspense in Call of Cthulhu plays a major role ... morein the story, ranging from the retelling of hellish patients dreams to stories of cult rituals and the dialogue between characters about the cults. The first-person perspective Lovecraft offers gives the reader more in depth storytelling ranging from his own personal thoughts to listening or reading stories from professionals, cult members, and his uncle's interviewees. The Cult of Cthulhu is a great story filled with detail and suspense, any reader who enjoys a fast-paced, suspenseful book will enjoy H.P. Lovecraft's Call of Cthulhu.
review 2: Could a cult legends be true. H.P. Lovecraft's Call of Cthulhu has surprised me with a diverse style of writing that expresses a mysterious, horror, and thrilling story that keeps you reading for hours. Of the inter book my favorite trope is the writers use of the mystery genre to make the book seem very realistic by using our protagonist's grandfather's research papers has a plot line and has "actual" fictional events that could fool anyone made up in the book that are told to the reader through a text book definition of second person. The book in the beginning reels you in using limited third person with the style of a news anchor reading off the daily headline of the protagonist life. This story will change the perception of the mystery genre for many, and will bring a shiver down your spine. less
