review 1: I will preface this by saying, I am a Hunter Jones fan. I have read everything she has written and will continue to do so. September First, for me, was a difficult read, and a wonderfully good way. I couldn't sit down and read the whole thing in one sitting, it was too overwhelming. Indie's descent into madness was so well written and engrossing that you fell over the edge with her. Then the scenes written from Jack's perspective was so visceral that you felt his pain watching the woman he loves fall farther and farther from him even as she drew closer to him physically. The entire book, a true artists struggle with their gift and all the good and bad that comes with the accolades and backlash, was well written and unique in its artistry and ima... moregery.
review 2: The prequel to Hunter S. Jones' brilliant romance novel September Ends (co-authored like that book, with an unnamed English poet) is the tragic story of the love between poets Indie Shadwck and Jack O. Savage. Jack, a brilliant, driven erotic poet, and Indie, the haunted genius who is his only muse, create artistic magic together. But their love comes at a terrible price for the demon-haunted Indie - and, ultimately, for Jack, as well.If you loved September Ends, and wondered why Jack was so determined not to allow himself to love Liz Snow, this short novel will answer that question with heartbreaking clarity. Highly recommended. less
