Hello reader/s! I hope you’re well! For a while now, I’ve been writing a weekly or bi-weekly post about books that are on my TBR. TBR, if you don’t know is the abbreviation for To Be Read. My goal here is to shed some light on books that I’ve otherwise forgotten about. These books could be books I’ve been meaning to read from the library, or books that have been collecting dust on my shelves at home. My goal though is to say a little about the book and also give a little reasoning of why I want to read them. In hopes of reading them sooner than later.
The books I’ll be talking about today are two very different books. One I suspect I’ll enjoy reading, and the other…not so much.
The first book on today’s agenda is called The City Stained Red by Sam Sykes.
I started reading The City Stained Red in store, and I have got to say that I really enjoy knowing that the main character talks to his sword–and that I’m pretty sure the sword talks back.
Other than that, finding out that the main character prior to being sent to hell was comparable to a living and breathing god, has got to be pretty interesting! — I’m sure that this book while going in many different places, will have some kind of overall impact in the story. That, and the paperback is freaking huge (600 pages). I’m also surprised that only 5 of my Goodreads friends have added The City Stained Red to their shelves.
I’m glad that this book only cost me like, $5, because I can for sure tell that I already don’t like this book. Why did I buy it then? Because I am addicted to buying books that are on sale, that even somewhat interest me.
The second book that I’ll be talking about is For Today I Am a Boy by Kim Fu.
Compared to The City Stained Red, For Today I Am a Boy is pretty small (at only 256 pages)! Nevertheless, I’m super interested in reading this book since the main character is a transgirl. With the character being a transgirl, I’m not sure how her family will treat her. Nevertheless, I’m really looking forward to reading For Today I Am a Boy. I’m pretty sure that this book is an important one.
If you couldn’t tell, I’m absolutely looking forward to reading For Today I Am a Boy, while I’m not really looking forward to reading The City Stained Red.
