review 1: I enjoyed this just as much as I had hoped to. Who can pass up the opportunity to read Star Wars as a Shakespeare play? My favorite part was seeing how the author incorporated some famous bits from Shakespeare's plays into the dialogue of Star Wars. I look forward to reading the future acts of the trilogy. The illustrations made it all the better too. I highly recommend this book as a fun weekend read.
review 2: The criticism has been raised by some that Star Wars itself is nothing more than a pastiche of Westerns, Sci Fi serials, and the complete works of Joseph Campbell. Whether it is or it isn't isn't important here. What is important is that William Shakespeare's Star Wars is a most certainly a pastiche of the Bard's works to turn A New Hope into a five act... more play, complete with chorus, that strangely works. less
