review 1: Sherlock Holmes will always be my favorite fictional character. This being one of Conan Doyles' stories, it is no surprise that I enjoyed this graphic novel version of The Sign of Four. The artwork helps the reader visualize each scene. For those that may have had difficult reading through Conan Doyle's stories, this might be one option in order to enjoy Sherlock Holmes cases. Personally, I've read this story multiple times, but it was still fun to go through the graphic novel. I really enjoyed it and will be pursuing others by Ian Edington. The Sign of Four opens with a Miss Mary Morstan who comes to Sherlock Holmes and John Watson for help. She has been receiving pearls by post and just recently received a letter requesting her presence, minus the police. For her safety, s... morehe asks for the two to accompany her. John Watson is immediately struck by her poise and beauty. The mystery deeps when a dying man notices a face in the window, an apparition perhaps? Shortly after his death, a note is pinned to his sheet with "the sign of four". Later, another man is found dead in his office. Murder is evident. Will Holmes be able to catch up to the murderer? Will justice be served in the case of the Agra treasure?Something amusing that occurred to me: What would make this better? Fashioning Holmes to resemble Cumberbatch. That would certainly increase the popularity of these novels.
review 2: Pros:- I like the assured lines of the art.- And the jewel-like, some times even pastelly color scheme, that also managed to be dark.- I can see how this could make a non-Holmes reader put off by its relative age be sucked into reading more Holmes mysteries- The paper smelled really nice.Cons:- I wish the sequencing would have been more playful. Many talking heads.- Watson fell in love because it was in the original story. There was no other reason that I could discern.- I was still kind of confused by the original heist that precipitated the whole mystery. less

Really fun comic that is a great interpretation of the original story.

Not bad, per se, but doesn't make effective use of the graphic format.
