review 1: I thought I had read everything regarding Tudor Britain,but no. This guide walks you through a journey around the country during Tudor times,you are transported back to a time when money,men and religion ruled. Disease and death is ubiquitous,medicine is in it's infancy and yet everyone makes the best of what they have. I thoroughly enjoyed this book in its Ebook form and have now purchased the real thing to adorn my book shelf and to be re-read and read again.
review 2: Unfortunately kind of dry. This was meticulously researched (sometimes too much so) and had a great premise: travel guide to the late 16th century. ... moreresting tidbits--I really liked the parts about culture, gender politics, and Shakespeare. On that third point, there was entirely too few Shakespeare anecdotes in this book, which I was kind of banking on. Oh well, good enough for my commute to work! less
