review 1: "Ilsa Madden-Mills writes about strong heroines and sexy alpha males that sometimes you just want to slap." Slap? I wanted to frame him for murder and pay couple of thugs to gangbang him. Seriously, there's a line at how stupid you can be.When I read books like this one, I often wonder how can making the decision for the girl you love, who is obviously strong and independent, and ending up hurting her, while trying to "protect" her,is EVER a good idea? Stop with a macho bullshit already! But aside from the complete idiot of a hero, this book is actually pretty decent. What I like the most about it is that the bad things didn't stop where bad things usually stop. And even though I almost had a heart attack and cried my eyes out,the story closer to reality than most books o... moref the same genre.I like the heroine a lot because if I was in her situation, I would probably curl on the floor and and swing back and forth from the madness of my life. Or snap and kill everybody. But she didn't, she kept her cool and went on with it, and did the things she thought she had to do. I just didn't like the fact that she couldn't swallow her pride and ask Cuba for help, and then proceeded to rip my heart out, but, oh well, no body's perfect. She's was also selfless and caring and had totally crazy style. The things that kind of bothered me was that the characters were totally sure in their decisions the whole story, but changed their mind in the ending pretty fast. I think it could have been better if it had some kind of gradation. To sum it up, I enjoyed this book and I recommend it. :)
review 2: This one is difficult. I hated the first 65% but absolutely loved the last of it. The beginning felt like too much past present past present almost like I missed a whole novel but I read very wicked beginnings. Then all of a sudden it just started to flow for me and I fell in love with the last of it. My only rec. is that this book is for over 17. While it takes place in high school it is very adult in its content. less
