review 1: After having read her first book, 'Left To Tell', I couldn't wait to read her next book. I often wondered, where she was and what life had become for her since the accounts in 'Left To Tell'.I really enjoyed this book because it was an honest, down to earth story of how she over came the hatred and the grief of loosing her family. I enjoyed the things she shared in becoming a mother and linking her heritage to that despite her children's loss of grandparents.I also enjoyed hearing about her intimate relationship with God and how her relationship had developed and grown in light of the horrific events in Rwanda. This is a good read. Before you read this book, read her first one. This is a sequel to the first one.
review 2: What an amazing story of survival, commu
... morenity, and faith. It's nice to read something about a culture that I am not very familiar with. It was also nice to discuss this book with my work colleague who moved here from Uganda a couple of years ago. I asked him about the Rwandan refugees in his country and how his people responded to the genocide. He said that they didn't really think about it except that they got their drinking water from Lake Victoria. When they started seeing bodies floating down the river from which they got their drinking water, he said they didn't want to drink the water. I am interested in reading this author's first book, which comes highly recommended. less
