GOODREADS SUMMARY:
Golden boy Ezra Faulkner believes everyone has a tragedy waiting for them—a single encounter after which everything that really matters will happen. His particular tragedy waited until he was primed to lose it all: in one spectacular night, a reckless driver shatters Ezra’s knee, his athletic career, and his social life.
No longer a front-runner for Homecoming King, Ezra finds himself at the table of misfits, where he encounters new girl Cassidy Thorpe. Cassidy is unlike anyone Ezra’s ever met, achingly effortless, fiercely intelligent, and determined to bring Ezra along on her endless adventures.
But as Ezra dives into his new studies, new friendships, and new love, he learns that some people, like books, are easy to misread. And now he must consider: if one’s singular tragedy has already hit and everything after it has mattered quite a bit, what happens when more misfortune strikes?
Robyn Schneider’s The Beginning of Everything is a lyrical, witty, and heart-wrenching novel about how difficult it is to play the part that people expect, and how new beginnings can stem from abrupt and tragic endings.
MY TAKE:
“Sometimes I think that everyone has a tragedy waiting for them, that the people buying milk in their pajamas are picking their noses at stoplights could be only moments away from disaster, that everyone’s life, no matter how unremarkable, has a moment when it will become extraordinary.”
Let me start this by saying, I liked it but I did not love it. It was not bad and definitely was not good either. I love Robyn, coz she is pretty cool. I met her during her PH tour with Melissa Kantor and Katie Cotugno 2-3 years ago. The Beginning of Everything started out well. I was hoping to give this book 5 stars but I just could not. The beginning of the book was amazing, full of humor and full of highschool typical everyday life and problems however in the middle of the book, it went to other direction and it was not that exciting anymore.
I like Ezra, the golden boy. The narrator. Awesome character. And Cassidy tho I was disappointed on what she did at the end, she is still somewhat likeable. Speaking of the ending, it broke my heart I was hoping it would leave me at the edge of my seat or happy maybe? It left me hanging with a hole in my heart, I guess I am really a sucker for a happy ending
