review 1: This is a story of a young woman, Meiko Inoue, her boyfriend, Naruo, and their circle of friends as they struggle to make their way in the world after college, reconciling the nebulous dreams of happiness and success with the reality and constraints of the adult world. Stuck in dull poorly paid jobs and uncertain of their futures, Meiko, Naruo and his man-child band mates struggle to figure out what they want and how to get it. After tragedy strikes one of their group, the band must find a way to keep the music playing. While not brilliant, this is a good example of a graphic novel being a proper novel and not just a long form comic book. In keeping with the manga tradition, the book reads right to left, which can take a bit of getting used to. For anyone interested in tr... moreying graphic novels, this would be an good place to start.
review 2: La ciudad, el mar y el cielo. El trabajo, la escuela y la música. La familia, la pareja y los amigos. Inio Asano hace un manga sobre una pareja joven y una banda de rock y termina contando la historia de todos y la incertidumbre que se cierne sobre todos. Ahí hay un dos en un bote en un día soleado; lo que se están diciendo es de lo que menos nos gusta escuchar. Ahí hay una banda terminando una canción en el escenario, tienen los puños en alto; lo que ha costado estar ahí no se le desea a nadie. Lo más doloroso ocurre en el hueco entre el tomo uno y el tomo dos, la historia no se ceba en ello. Da miedo lo que se puede hacer con viñetas en blanco y negro cuando se ha observado con atención a la ciudad y a las personas. Le pongo cuatro estrellas y no cinco porque la historia termina donde debía y yo quería seguir leyendo a esos personajes. Claro que si la historia hubiera seguido habría dicho que se prolongaba innecesariamente. Uno es un menso cínico, no trae el corazón bien puesto en la solapa como Inio Asano. less
