review 1: There must be two Inio Asanos. One who writes shitty slice of life manga (SOLANIN), and the other whom writes realistic biblical horror, as if James Joyce was a mangaka who dabbled in Lynchian territories. Yes, this manga can be described by the latter. It was something I didn't think could come from Japan's comics scene, since most of the manga is basically campy shit excreted by artists who all draw with the same style. I'm not going to give away much, but this was a brilliant new take on the recycled end-of-the-world story. The reason why it didn't get five stars is because the translation seemed a bit shaky through most of the book. This is ABSOLUTELY NOT for the faint of heart.
review 2: En Nijigahara nos volvemos a encontrar con el elenco de personajes tr... moreaumatizados que tanto gusta a Inio Asano, pero está vez en una trama digna del David Lynch de Mulholland Drive. Sin embargo, en mi opinión, el constante juego con el tiempo de la narración, con el que intenta mostrar cómo construye y reconstruye el cerebro los recuerdos y cómo éstos nos afectan, enmascara una historia poco profunda. ¿Tendría el mismo efecto la historia si se explicase de manera lineal? ¿O sería aburrida como una película de sobremesa?Eso sí, el dibujo se mantiene tan magnífico y fresco como siempre. less
