review 1: Ninako and Daiki have been friends forever. They became especially close when she helped him through his parents' divorce. Because of their close friendship, everyone thinks Ninako and Daiki should be a couple. But Ninako isn't sure if she feels the same way about Daiki that he feels about her. Especially when she starts to get to know Ren, the most popular boy in the school. Ren is aloof, broody and mysterious. As the story progresses, Ninako starts to see some chinks in Ren's armor and realizes she's falling in love with him. What will she do when Daiki professes his love for her? Who will she choose?I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book. First, it's a graphic novel (manga to be exact) which I have a hard time with. And then, I have to read it ba... moreckwards! Surprising, I found it easy to read (is it because I'm lefthanded?) and I enjoyed the story. There were a couple of OMG moments towards the end and the story ends with a cliffhanger. I couldn't wait to open Volume 2! I'm happy we own the first six volumes of this series and I'm glad I don't have to wait to find out what happens next.I think fans of manga will also enjoy Strobe Edge.
review 2: This is the first volume in the Strobe Edge series. It is about a Ninako, a level-headed high-schooler, who falls in love with the school heartthrob, Ren. Nina has a friend, Diaki, who confesses his love for her but Nina has realized that she cares about Ren. She turns Diaki down and he's obviously broken hearted but he takes it well. Ren in turn rejects Nina because he already has a girlfriend.This book is a manga so you have to read it from back to front and the pages from right to left. It's a little hard to get used to after not reading these types a book for a while. The characters are all too easy going and accepting for high schoolers. It is a cute story though and I'm interested to see what happens with the characters so I'll keep reading the series. less
