Since this is a vampire book, I felt the need to warn you against the blood, and sex scenes.
Blood Guard is the first book in the Mission series by Megan Erickson.
I found the synopsis for Blood Guard to be incredibly interesting. I actually originally thought that Blood Guard was a MLM book. Imagine my surprise when I read Athan’s part of the synopsis and found out that Tendra was actually a female!
Tendra is a raging ball of hell fire when she wants to be, that’s for sure! She also cusses a lot — just lets swear words fly out of her mouth without a care. I love that about her. She’s also down to Earth about a lot of things. She’s realistic and frankly such a nice relief from what happens in this book.
Athan is protective and bound by duty to do the right thing. I figured that I wouldn’t end up liking Athan, nor his point of view on things. That didn’t end up being the case though. I found myself liking Athan’s point of view.
I was a little worried that the flow of the book would be stuttered and interrupted a lot by the differing point of views. I found that that wasn’t the case though. Tendra and Athan’s points of view flow nicely together.
There’s a lot of action that goes on in this book, which kept me interested and made me read Blood Guard in one sitting!
I don’t know what it is lately but the ARC’s I’ve been reading have been making me laugh, which is honestly such a huge surprise. I didn’t think that I would end up laughing at all during Blood Guard since the feel to the characters (especially during the beginning) was slightly serious.
I like how the book ended, even if it was a little cliché. It’s also kinda obvious that the second book will be from Idris’ point of view as well as the female mentioned by the end of the book.
The Missione series has the potential to be a really interesting series.
I gave Blood Guard, 3 of 5 stars on Goodreads.
