review 1: Another 3.5 star book for me, and frankly I’m surprised at some of the lower ratings on this one. I thought this was a sweet, understated story that definitely felt a little yaoi-ish to me. Our MC Connor is patient and claims to be not as smart of most, though he feels down to earth and sensible to me. His interest is captured by a prickly man with green eyes and a distrusting nature. While neither the MC nor I find that sort of behavior very appealing, there is something about Lorcan that is captivating. Conner cannily knows that for every careful step back, Lorcan follows, but for every aggressive step forward Lorcan balks. At their first meeting Lorcan agrees to dance ‘just one dance’ with Connor but clearly doesn’t trust Connors intentions. When Connor delibera... moretely does not touch even when dancing, Lorcan demands to know why. I thought this was cute! When Lorcan finally lets down his walls as their relationship slowly continues, Connor knows he’s worth pursuing. I thought this was just a charming little story and I liked the progression of their relationship and ending. Hope we get more! review 2: Lorcán is a fox shifter with bright green eyes. He is very hesitant around others, but he is drawn towards Connor. Connor first noticed the green eyes on the fox while he was working on the garden, only later on to see those same eyes in the club. He put one and one together, but didn’t wanted to wait for Lorcán to confess. Connor was smitten with the other man and spend time and patience on pursuing him. I only wonder why Lorcán is not used to be treating ‘normal’. Perhaps because when people found he was a shifter, they pushed him away. less
