December 2017 Wrap-up & January 2018 TBR

Hello everyone! I’m hoping to be more consistently active on my blog in 2018. I have a few posts I’m working on but I wanted to do a monthly wrap up and talk about what I’ll be attempting to read in January 2018 (where did 2017 go?!?!). December Wrap-up 1. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon — 5/5 stars
  • ** Note: If I could give this 1,000 stars I would**
  • I’ve posted my review HERE so please pop over and check it out if you haven’t already.
  • This is one of the only historical fiction books I have ever read *hides shamefully* and I absolutely loved it! I already have picked up the next three books in the series and hope to make a serious effort to make it through this series in 2018. I’ve also started binge watching season 1 of the show, so my life is currently consumed with that. Also, I’m in love with Jamie Fraser, that is all.
2. Assassin’s Apprentice  – Robin Hobb — 3.5/5 stars
  • Please note, I’m still in the process of writing this review.
  • It took me months to read this book, not because it wasn’t good but I just kept getting pulled in different directions with my reading and working to finish my MSc thesis. I began reading this as part of @HobbSquad (check out #HobbSquad too) on Bookstagram and utterly failed in being able to keep up.
  • This was my first exposure to Hobb and I’m quite impressed! It’s definitely a high fantasy book filled with world building and intricate plot points. Assassin’s Apprentice is book one in The Farseer Trilogy and I’m really intrigued to see where the second book takes me. Luckily I already have it in my possession and hope to start it relatively soon.
