review 1: Unplanned by J. Heather Leigh is a quick little read that tackles the issue of pregnancy out of wedlock. A number of reviews question the realism of McKenna's emotional journey when faced with the consequences of sin and having to share those with the church body. Personally, I have seen the type of judgement that McKenna fears so I thought this was a pretty realistic portrayal of how one feels when having to let others in the church know about your sin. However the unwavering support and unconditional love that McKenna receives from those in her church isn't something I have seen as often--but I wish I did. It was a perfect example of how we should embrace others and love others like Jesus loves us. I also really liked the tie in with the youth ministry and how God us... moreed McKenna and her life as a witness and mentor for teens. I think that having someone who has been there, done that is the most effective tool for teaching youth. Overall this is a great message about unconditional love and how all things work together for his good.
review 2: I did not really know what to expect when I first downloaded this as a free read. It has taken me a while to get to it. Now that I have I wish I would have sooner this is a very good Christian based short story. As you can tell by the cover its an unplanned pregnancy by Mckenna. She is someone who was a virgin but over drank 1 time blacks out, goes to bed with a man & ends up pregnant. Now if that is not bad enough she is the church secretary with a morality clause in her contract so she could lose her job. Does her past good deeds help her as well as her friends? Do the things that have happened in her past & her relationship with God leave her in a good place to have faith in people? When God sends Jon to be her friend will she allow God's work to be done through Jon to help heal her heart & her life? This is just such an endearing book of hope, faith, & love. less
