If only you had been able to tell
where the invisible line in the powder had been drawn,
Maybe you wouldn’t have crossed it.
Maybe you would have stopped in time,
but I doubt it. You never knew when it
was time.
You could have had it all—
Me, the very, very fine house with
two cats in the yard, but now life is so
hard because of you:
Packing your nose
full of white
while your heart pounded
wild like a jackhammer and didn’t stop
because you couldn’t stop
until you were
gone.
