review 1: I've read most of the Jack Daniels series and enjoyed most of them. Although they're pretty brutal, the mix of quirky characters, humor, and edge-of-your-seat thrills interests me. Shot of Tequila fits the bill, except it's missing much of the humor. Once in a while, Jack's partner, Herb, will show signs of the combination of quick wit and bumbling personality of the future fat man (in this prequel, he is gaunt). The tortured title character of Tequila is a nice feature. I'd like to see him again in a future book.
review 2: I don't know why I'm so late to the party on these books. While not officially a part of the Jack Daniels series, she still plays a crucial part in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Tequila is one of those "bad guys" that are hard to disli
... moreke. He's just getting even with the bad guys in a Dexter sort of way. If some a**hole did that to my handicapped sister, I would do the same thing. I've been reading a lot of Crouch lately, and he pointed me toward Konrath's work. I'm glad he did. I plan to read a lot more from him and Kilborne. Starting on Whiskey Sour now. less
