review 1: I picked tis book out of the library on a whim. (My local lirary has a limited selection, and this book was one I hadn't seen before) While the storyline is promising, the writing didn't exactly do it for me. I'm not saying the book is bad, personally, I just didn't enjoy the way it was written. In fact, I give the author serious props for writing this book in high school, then got it published. Definitely a huge feat. I'm sure the auther has improved as a writer since this was writtem, so I'm definitely willing to give the next book in this series a chance.
review 2: My friend told me about The Lab and it sounded really interesting, so I started reading it. I loved it. It was awesome. I got so much more out of it than just what my friend described of it, which
... more only served as a bait to pull me in at the start. When I saw the reviews of it on Goodreads, I was a little shocked that some people didn't like this awesome awesome book. But I read on and could see why. I suppose Heath's writing doesn't appeal to some (more like many), but it does to me and I loved this book thoroughly along with the other books in the Six of Hearts series. It boggles my mind that the author wrote this in high school. I mean, it's so detailed and complicated and--I don't know how to describe it. I liked the action scenes and the fact that Six had every little move and action planned out, and how some parts has so much thought going into each and every second. It was...cool. Like, sort of when in movies, they make this scene all slow-mo and you can see everything that's happening. For example, when people dodge a string of bullets. However, it's TOO detailed, and it's tedious to read when the whole book is like this. I mean, it was fine for me, in fact it's why I loved the book for it, but looking back I can see where people are coming from.I wondered how I would ever learn to like Six, but slowly his character was revealed; his loyalty to King and the Deck, his protectiveness over his friends and his fellow agents, though he doesn't show it, and, it could be that he's assured in his own abilities, but I think he's a bit of a daredevil. Maybe. Just a bit. And I just warmed up to him at the end of the book. less

Meh. Come back to me in 5-10 years author. I see potential, but you're not there yet.
