review 1: Compared to the first book I read in this story plot by Jacquelyn Frank, I admit to being disappointed. Granted, I read them out of order, but I do not think that impacted the stories much. This story of Bronse, the leader of an elite, intergalactic, military group and Ravenna, the leader of a small, pyschically and magically empowered group of civilians did not pack the punch in the romance area that should be expected of "leaders." The most interesting part of their story was Ravenna, herself, and her awe inspiring powers which were slowly uncovered throughout the book. The romance between the two was rather bland. Even Ravenna did not hold any mystery or passion in this department. She was just much too straight forward and logical about everything which really takes th... moree passion and intrigue out of the romance. The story kept me reading for its adventure and mystery more than anything else. As primarily a romance, I would have liked it to make more of an impact in this department. However, knowing I enjoyed the previous book more and this one still falling under an averagely enjoyable read, I will risk reading the third betting a 50-50 chance of real enjoyment.

I enjoy many books by Jacquelyn Frank. This one I was exited about read, but was a little let down. I do have to say, it may be me. I seem to be a little burnt out with these kinds of books lately. Bronse a soldier is having premonitions that seem so real he doesn't know what to make of them. He soon realizes that they are more than even he could have imagined.Ravenna is a Chosen, someone who is born with tremendous power and has been sold to the highest bidder by her village. She and Bronse fight to understand what they are running into, and hopefully away from. This book seemed a bit all over, with the running away, people buying other people, and assignation attempts on Bronse's life. Together they fight and join the IM to help people over all of their planets. This isn't too much of a review, but there really isn't much to say about this book. They meet under extraordinary circumstances, come to love one another, and then fight to stay together in all ways. If you like her books, you'll more than likely like this one. Enjoy!

I was a bit skeptical about this one because I didn't like Frank's Nightwalkers series. However, the futuristic setting and sci-fi vibe seemed like a nice switch from the usual paranormal fare. And it was. I enjoyed reading this book, although it was a bit predictable and cheesy at times. There was a nice spread of adventure, drama, and passion -- all of which make for a fun read. I would definitely like to see where this series goes.

Can't wait to read the next one, especially if it is as hot as the first one.
