review 1: So I just finished reading this book about a couple of minutes ago. It took me a bit of last night and this morning, it's not really that long but it's extremely amazing! I love the characters, except Joe who's slightly annoying but amusing. And Luke is one of the best fictional guys ever. It also took me a while to find out that everyone was from the UK. But the ending was kind of expected and a plot twist all at once. I loved the entire book though and I highly recommend it to everyone!
review 2: I read this cute little book in one sitting, and loved it. Ok, I'll admit I have a weakness for all things Christmas, and any story dedicated to the festive season is fine by me, but a lot have a tendency to get bogged down in over-sentimentality. Not so North Pol... moree Reform School. Yes there's some pathos, which is a rare and wonderful skill, and there's also plenty of humour. By humour, I mean laugh-out-loud hilarious moments. We follow the inappropriately named Mistletoe Bell as she is sent to the North Pole Reform School for allowing her hatred of Christmas to ruin it for others. Also being reformed are Luke - fiercely in denial about his elf ancestry, unpleasant alcoholic Joe, duck-fearing Emily, and Hugo - a child who thinks he's dead. I'm not going to tell you any more, as I think that's enough to set the scene. North Pole Reform School is a funny, fabulous, light-hearted read, ideal for a cold winter evening snuggled under the duvet with a cup of your favourite beverage to hand. less
