review 1: In fanfiction there's a sub genre known as the "fix fic". These are stories that take something that happened in canon the author of the fic didn't agree with, and try to change it so it's "better" than the original. After the Torchwood miniseries Children Of Earth a lot of these sprung up trying to "fix" the fates of Ianto Jones and Jack Harkness in the fourth and fifth episodes. Like most fanfiction there were great ones to be found, but most were hackish and uninspired. This radio drama has flavors of a "fix fic" but in a way that doesn't invalidate the emotion behind Children of Earth: Day Four or Russell T. Davies' Torchwood canon. In fact, this story adds to it, in a truly beautiful way tying up loose ends. There's not much I can say about this radio drama without sp... moreoiling everything that makes it brilliant other than that nothing about this story is what it seems. Twist and turns are thrown at you ending in an emotional punch in the gut that will leave you crying for hours on end. The misdirection is masterful and the story is truly beautiful once it gets going. Also Barrowman and Lloyd do an amazing job with the voice acting, hitting all the right emotional notes. If you are a fan of the Jack and Ianto relationship you simply NEED to give this a listen. One of, if not the best, of the Torchwood Radio Dramas and even better than some of the episodes in the TV series itself.
review 2: It's closing night at the pub of the same name known as the most haunted pub in Wales. As last orders are called a psychic calls on the dead to contact their loved ones, and Jack bursts in trying to stop the seance. The ghosts start arriving, Jack's behaviour becomes erratic and Ianto and Gwen are torn between their trust in him and worry for him. At first a good story, but then with a twist at the end that is a real punch to the gut, elegantly and devastatingly plotted less
