review 1: I think I liked the idea better than the actual story. I felt a lot of the book was predictable, and I'm not talking about the mythology aspects. I will say the author put some serious effort into modernizing the old Norse mythology, which I enjoyed. Over all it was a decent book, but I'm not sure I would read the 2 other books he has written in a very similar fashion with Egyptian and Roman mythologies. It's a long book, which isn't a deterrent for me, but I wasn't always compelled to pick it back up.
review 2: Another strong entry in Lovegrove's Pantheon series. The story is told through the viewpoint of a British ex-soldier looking for a second chance who becomes the reluctant mythic hero of the tale. I like the creative blending of Norse mythology and hig
... moreh-tech weaponry to create a "modern" Ragnorak. The premise of "Gods are stories" is also very interesting and links nicely with the tradition of sagas in Norse society. Highly recommended. less

terrifically clever take on Norse myths, but I'm not a fan of the ending.
