review 1: I give this book a 7 :-) to quote the author "I've tried to write this book in a welcoming way so that as many readers as possible will be able to use it-from the doubtful seeker to the devout believer. Ignatian spirituality is a resource for a wide variety of people, not just Jesuits, not just Catholics, and not just Christians. Just as there are insights from Zen Buddhism that are useful to me as a Christian, so there are practices and techniques from Ignatian spirituality that can help the Zen Buddhist. And the person who is Jewish or Muslim, too. Anyone can use these practices to better his or her life"-James Martin, SJ. The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything: A Spirituality for Real Life is what the title claims. It has been extremely insightful, giving life t... moreravel tips and road maps for a freer way of life written for anyone to understand and apply. I see now why James Martin, SJ is a frequent commentator on The Colbert Report, because he ROCKS and shows a very human, as well as welcoming, side of religious theory!!! A huge thank you goes to my Spiritual Growth Group for picking this book and for our wonderful weekly chapter discussions over the summer.
review 2: This book was a good read, especially for new ideas on prayer. I would say this is less traditional form of prayer for Catholics, but following the examples of St. Ignatius form of prayer is very practical and would recommend to all who aren’t Catholic or even Christian. Particularly the Dailey Examen can make more grateful person with keener since of areas for improvement which in turn will enable them to be more empathetic to help those in need. less

The voice of Father Martin is perfectly pitched, and his views well articulated. A great read!
