The only thing I can say I didn't like about this book was the h's name, Bernadette...no matter what I did throughout this book I kept picturing a little gray haired lady. That said, the romance was a whirlwind.Take Bernadette, a bad-ass ex-military now bodyguard who takes no crap in her professional life while suffering in silence with her family responsibilities. Toss in mega rich guy, Jeremy and you're asking for a whirlwind romance if I've ever seen one. Pregnancy romances just do something for me that other genres don't. I think we all get a little sentimental when it comes to babies so maybe that's it. What can I say, I loved it. Watching the characters crawl out of their everyday shells to become better people for the sake of someone other than themselves is a great storyline. Jane Graves did a kick ass job on this book.
This is the first book I've read by Jane Graves and I was very impressed with it. The writing was crisp and the story moved along at a great pace. The characters were well developed and the attraction between the two of them very believable. The only thing that kept me from giving this book five stars was the ending -- something about how the hero realized he was in love with the heroine bothered me, but I am having a hard time explaining why. It just felt too contrived. However, I don't think my reaction should hold anyone back from reading this book. This is an extremely talented author who has a unique voice that is very fun to read.
