review 1: I listened to the audio version, so saw no illustrations. Still, the book promised two sides of history's bad girls stories. But in the end, all I got was a brief version of what the history books tell us, and then some inane commentary that did little to the balance the first story. I was very disappointed. This book should have been classified for young readers. Maybe their expectations would be less.
review 2: This was actually a really fun read. The biographies were very basic and summarized, but still made for interesting, funny reading. I loved the comics of the mother/daughter authors. The art was also great. I usually don't care for that type of artwork so much, but this book really jumped out at me. The book did, however, rely on, in some parts, prima
... morerily on theories, such as Cleopatra committing suicide by an asp bite. Overall, though, as much as I enjoyed this book and had a good laugh here and there, I was left with many questions about the lives of these women. I am simply left with a desire to know more. On the other hand, in part, this may be a good thing, as it will lead me to find books with more substance and information about these women. less
