review 1: Monsters stomp, romp, play, fight, and make up in this adorable rhyming picture book. Each page is illustrated with a colorful variety of monsters in all shapes and sizes playing in all sorts of ways, including jumprope, running, dancing, using playground equipment, playing ball, enjoying an outdoor park, etc. This cute book would make a fantastic read-aloud for pre-K or kindergarten. The book could be used to teach rhyming, or as an intro to a PE unit or healthy lifestyles unit, as all the illustrations show little monsters engaged in a variety of physical activities that would be typical for any young child. At the end of the book, two monsters get into a disagreement over a water fountain that turns physical, but they say sorry and make up, so this title could also be us... moreed to springboard a discussion about being kind to others and taking turns. My youngest students are always asking for monster books, so they will love this one! The pictures are cute and funny and there are many things happening on each page, so it would capture the attention of the youngest non-readers very well. Students that are just learning to read will enjoy this book too.
review 2: Monsters stretch, monsters twirl. Gulp, growl, and turn. What will happen next?Playtime with monsters has never been more fun with this interactive book. This is the kind of book that I love reading in my toddler storytimes! It allows toddlers to pay attention while doing action movements. The illustrations aren't too heavy for a children's eye. Highly recommend for any toddler storytime. I keep it on my shelves as a must read. less
