review 1: Meh. There were parts of this book I liked, but honestly, I didn't care about (or like at all, really) any of the characters. I get that to have realistic characters they need to have flaws, but for most of them I found that their flaws outweighed their positives. It was told with a first person narrative, but I never really found that I liked Stephen all that much, and even though it sucked what he went through, I just... I dunno? I didn't super connect with him. Probably my favourite part was the final section where it talks about him in college, but it's only touched on very briefly. I also found that the book was WAAAAAY too long. I don't mind length in books, but I just felt like the same things were happening over and over. I dunno, I just didn't really enjoy reading... more it. Sad. :(
review 2: This is one of my new favourite books. Right off the bat, it took a turn that I was not expecting from reading the synopsis. This book kept me reading, even when I did finally put it down I would find myself wondering what was going to happen next. The only problem I have with this book is that it's not longer. I want more of this story. And if you're thinking about reading it I feel like I should warn that there is scenes in it that involve self harm (burning and cutting) and thoughts of suicide. If you're triggered by these, take caution when reading this book. less

Wonderful story. Very strong voice of main character made it believable and page-turning.
